Head of Rostec Chemezov: AvtoVAZ cars have risen in price by 9-12 percent over the year 
a year at the level of competitors – by an average of 9-12 percent. The head of the Rostec state corporation Sergey Chemezov spoke about this, TASS reports.
“We cannot increase the cost of all models at once, because then we will be uncompetitive. We look at how much the price of our competitors rises – for example, Hyundai or Kia, ”Chemezov said. The possibility of further increase in the value of cars in 2021 depends on the market conditions. At the same time, the rise in prices for AvtoVAZ products will be lower than the growth in prices of competitors, Chemezov assured.
According to the head of Rostec, the growth in the cost of cars is influenced by global inflationary processes. “We do not invent all these figures ourselves, they are provided by the market,” Chemezov said. He said that prices for almost all raw materials have risen: steel, plastics, metals and electronic components. In case of an increase in the value of cars, the price correction will be moderate. “It will not harm the competitive advantages of Lada cars. In addition, we are closely watching the prices of our competitors, ”he said. Chemezov said that domestic cars are not inferior to foreign cars of the same class, including Korean and European.
On November 12, it was reported that AvtoVAZ completely stopped production for one day due to the lack of electronic components. Later, the company clarified that the stop would affect only car assembly lines. The production of engines, gearboxes, chassis, metallurgy, press production continued on schedule. Experts admitted that due to production delays, car prices could rise by 10 percent by the end of the year.
