General Ivashov: Moscow can supply Iskander missiles to Minsk in case of a real military threat
Moscow can supply Iskander-M missile systems , but only in the event of a real military threat to Belarus. Such a condition was called by the former head of the main directorate of international military cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Defense, retired colonel-general Leonid Ivashov. His words on Sunday, November 14, are quoted by Interfax.
He noted that this is envisaged by joint military planning, and the issue of supplying the complexes has already been repeatedly raised for discussion between the military ministries of the two countries.
< p> According to Ivashov, the Russian Iskander is a very effective and high-precision weapon. The general also recalled that the missiles of the complex can be equipped with a nuclear warhead.
On November 13, in an interview with the Russian magazine National Defense, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that Minsk was interested in receiving Russian Iskander missile systems. According to him, they are needed in the western and southern directions.
