Critical period for revaccination by Sputnik Light was named

Ginzburg: the critical period for revaccination with “Sputnik Light” is six months a coronavirus strain is needed every six months. RIA Novosti was told about this by the head of the Gamaleya Center Alexander Gunzburg.

He added that he considers this recommendation “very critical”. It is important to be vaccinated, because after six months, if a person does not constantly encounter a foreign antigen, the level of antibodies decreases, the expert explained.

On November 13, Ph.D., immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov described how the number of antibodies changes through several months after being vaccinated against COVID-19. According to him, after three months, the titer of antibodies in a vaccinated patient decreases threefold, and after six months – tenfold. He noted that the “leak” of immunity is due to the low rates of revaccination, and also spoke about the problem in which initially vaccinated people who have had a coronavirus infection cannot get the next vaccine on time, while maintaining a high level of herd immunity.

< p> Earlier, the regions faced a shortage of the Sputnik Light vaccine. Among them were the Voronezh and Vologda regions, the Krasnoyarsk Territory, as well as Kurgan and St. Petersburg. Virologists interviewed by Lenta.ru suggested that the vaccine shortage was caused by lockdown, booster vaccinations and supply disruptions.
