According to him, now is “the time to build a reliable state border of Ukraine once and for all.” “The task of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to finally build a real frontier of the state,” Monastyrsky said, adding that next year Kiev has planned an engineering arrangement of the border on the Ukrainian-Russian and Ukrainian-Belarusian sections of the border.
Monastyrsky said that recently inspected a “potentially dangerous” section of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. “There I saw all the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but I did not see one thing – the border,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
On November 10, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevgeniy Yenin said that Ukrainian border guards are strengthening protection on the border with Belarus. He said that the strengthening of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border is being carried out in order to be able to restrain the flow of illegal migrants, if necessary.
On November 8, a group of refugees from the Middle East gathered at the border of Poland and Belarus and tried to overcome the border barriers. According to the Polish government, the number of illegal migrants has reached three to four thousand people. Warsaw also noted that the camp of illegal immigrants is guarded by Belarusian security forces.
