Former Foreign Minister of Ukraine Klimkin: the European Union will impose sanctions against the leader of Belarus Lukashenko
the European Union (EU) does not have the political will to impose sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin, but they will be against the leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. He expressed this opinion on the Kiev TV channel, RIA Novosti reports.
“Today, and I follow the discussions in the European Union, there is no political will to impose additional sanctions against Putin,” said the ex-head The Foreign Ministry, noting that this is due to the energy crisis, the situation in the Middle East, in Africa, around Afghanistan and Iran.
Earlier, the official representative of the EU foreign policy service Peter Stano said that the new sanctions against the European Union against Minsk will affect everyone those who are involved in the “dirty, inhuman and illegal business” of transporting migrants to the Belarusian borders with the EU. He also listed the main goals of the new restrictions: according to him, in addition to airlines, travel agencies and other intermediaries may fall under sanctions.
The migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the EU countries began after the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko threatened to weaken control behind the flow of refugees and drug trafficking. This happened against the backdrop of yet another aggravation of relations between Minsk and the West.
