Tymoshenko announced the extinction of Ukrainian cities. According to her, five or six average settlements annually disappear from the map of the country.

“Every year, starting from the 14th, there has just been such an increase in the demographic minus, that is, we have this year it will be forecasted up to 400 thousand minus the population per year “, – she stressed.

In the early 1990s, more than 50 million people lived in Ukraine. According to data as of September 1, 2021, the population of the republic is 41.3 million.

Earlier, a leading researcher at the Institute of Demography and Social Research named after Ptukha of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Lydia Tkachenko explained the reasons for the decline in the population of Ukraine. In her opinion, the problem of life expectancy in the country has existed since Soviet times. “A lot of people die even at their working age, especially men,” Tkachenko stressed.
