Former boxer Kostya Tszyu on the problem of piracy in Russia: our mentality is imprisoned for free
Former world boxing champion Kostya unpopularity of paid sports broadcasts in Russia. The interview with the athlete was published in RBC.
The 52-year-old ex-champion considered that the Russian viewer should be taught the legal consumption of content. Tszyu also explained the unwillingness of Russians to pay for broadcasts.
“The Russian mentality is imprisoned for free. Even if it is of poor quality, ”he explained. Tszyu also added that in order to combat piracy, it is necessary to work better with the viewer and attract a new audience. According to his forecasts, in 10-15 years, paid broadcasts will become the norm in Russia.
Tszyu was a junior welterweight champion. He became the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) world champion. He won 31 wins, two defeats and one draw in professional boxing.
