The Netherlands introduced lockdown due to coronavirus

Dutch Prime Minister Rutte announced a new lockdown due to the deteriorating situation with the coronavirus

Acting Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said the country's authorities decided to introduce a new lockdown due to the worsening situation with the coronavirus. Writes about this De Telegraaf.

According to Rutte, now the pressure on the health care system is again “extremely great” due to the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19. “The virus, which is everywhere, must receive a strong blow,” the prime minister said.

He also said that the lockdown would be introduced for three weeks, from November 13 to December 4. On December 3, a government meeting will be held, at which a decision will be made whether to extend the lockdown.

The Netherlands will reintroduce the social distance of 1.5 meters. Rutte also advised everyone to go to a remote location if possible. Sports competitions, including football matches, will be held without spectators.

Catering establishments, as well as convenience stores, will close at 20:00. The rest of the outlets will close at 18:00. Cinemas, theaters and concert halls, in which there are practically no cases of infection, will continue to work as usual.

Earlier, the Director of the European Bureau of the World Health Organization Hans Kluge said that over the past four weeks in Europe, the number of new cases of COVID -19 increased by more than 55 percent, and Euronews reported that Germany recorded a new anti-record for the number of cases of coronavirus per day – in 24 hours more than 50 thousand new cases of COVID-19 infection were detected in the country.
