The economist described Russia's actions in the event of the collapse of Ukraine

Economist Zubets: if Ukraine collapses, you need to fence it in and place towers around the edges

Alexey Zubets, director of the Institute for Socio-Economic Research of the Financial Institute under the Government of Russia, in an interview with Ukraina.ru, described the actions of Moscow and the West in the event of the collapse of Ukraine. According to him, if it turns into a “black hole” in the middle of Europe, its neighboring countries will only need to ensure minimal control over the population and territory, since they have no other interests in Ukraine.

put towers around the edges and that's it. We have countries like Somalia. During the civil war, Tajikistan was the “black hole”. There are many such examples, “Zubets suggested.

The economist stressed that once Ukraine was of interest to Russia, since it was a large sales market, and also had many people with high labor productivity. However, as the specialist notes, the market is declining due to the decline in the population's ability to pay, it becomes extremely difficult to produce anything in any part of the country, and its economic potential has noticeably decreased.

“In these conditions, only humanitarian considerations. We cannot allow people to kill each other there, so that there is banditry and cannibalism. This requires some international force that will keep order on the streets of cities. But Russia does not want and will not take full responsibility for it, “the expert said.

In his opinion, Ukraine's main problem is the absence of a project for its future, according to which the country will continue to live and develop. Based on what is happening with the Ukrainian economy, the country's disintegration is a matter of several years, Zubets summed up.

Earlier, the Ukrainian political scientist Kirill Molchanov said that the real reason why the country cannot join the North Atlantic Alliance is not conflicts in Donbass and Crimea. He compared Ukraine's accession to NATO with the West's declaration of war on Russia, which will prevent the country from joining the alliance.
