Diplomat Kuzmenkov: Moscow condemns accusations of the migration crisis by the West of Minsk

Moscow condemns the attempts of the West to settle scores with Belarus and accuse Minsk of fomenting the migration crisis. This was stated by Stepan Kuzmenkov, Senior Advisor to the Russian Permanent Mission to the UN, TASS reports.

According to him, some countries have decided to use the situation for opportunistic purposes, despite the importance of this topic. “We condemn the offensive and inadmissible statements of the representatives of the USA, Canada, EU, which do not correspond to the practice of mutually respectful dialogue in the field of human rights,” the diplomat emphasized.

Kuzmenkov added that such statements appear to be an attempt by the European Union to settle political scores with the author of the resolution of Belarus efforts to combat human trafficking. When discussing its project, Western countries began to accuse Minsk of using refugees to destabilize the situation in the EU, the spokesman added.

He stressed that such accusations of fueling the migration crisis are groundless. Moscow considers it unacceptable to shift the blame for the migration crisis in Europe onto Belarus, the diplomat concluded.

Earlier it became known that the EU was preparing to impose new sanctions against Belarus due to the aggravation of the migration crisis in Europe. It is noted that they will affect about 30 individuals and legal entities, including Foreign Minister Makei and the Belarusian airline Belavia.
