State Border Committee of Belarus: there are two thousand refugees on the border with Poland
The Belarusian authorities have estimated the number of refugees on the border with Poland at two thousand. This number was named by the first deputy chairman of the State Border Committee of the republic, Igor Butkevich, writes RIA Novosti.
It is reported that there are citizens of different nationalities and states on the Belarusian-Polish border. Butkevich noted that Minsk, in turn, is trying to provide migrants with firewood, water and other humanitarian aid.
As the official said, refugees are trying to get to the territory of the European Union, but for certain reasons they are not allowed.
Earlier in November, Russian President Vladimir Putin named the reasons for the migration crisis in Europe. According to the Russian leader, the situation on the Belarusian-Polish border is conditioned by military and economic factors.
Since the beginning of 2021, people have begun to flock to the border of Belarus with Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. The crisis escalated sharply on November 8 after several thousand people approached the Polish border from the Belarusian side. They do not leave the border zone, part of them tried to enter the territory of Poland on November 10, breaking the barbed wire fence.
