Syrian airline Cham Wings Airlines canceled flights to Minsk due to the crisis at the border from the Middle East to the territory of Belarus, canceled flights to Minsk. This was reported on Saturday, November 13, by RIA Novosti with reference to the air carrier's statement.
As explained in the company, such a decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. “Since most of the passengers of Cham Wings flying to Minsk are Syrians, Cham Wings Airlines decided to suspend its flights to Minsk National Airport from November 13,” they said.
Earlier, the German newspaper Bild accused President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenka is that he deliberately delivers refugees from the Middle East to the country in order to send them later to the border with the EU countries. According to the newspaper, currently the Minsk airport schedule includes 57 flights a week to the Middle East, including a flight to Damascus, Syria, operated by Cham Wings Airlines. At the same time, Bild noted that this airline is associated with the family of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the European Union began after Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko threatened to weaken control over the flow of refugees and drug trafficking. This happened against the backdrop of yet another aggravation of relations between Minsk and the West.
