The Ministry of Agriculture proposed measures to stabilize prices for vegetables from the “borscht set” 
“(Potatoes, cabbage, onions, beets, carrots). This is reported by Izvestia with reference to the department's report on the fulfillment of the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko following the meeting at the end of August.

Another measure is to introduce more powerful storage facilities. According to the executive director of the National Fruit and Vegetable Union Mikhail Glushkov, the storage deficit is estimated at 1 million tons of vegetables. “With 5.5 million tons of vegetables harvested, we have 1.6 million tons of storage facilities. Some vegetables are sold during the season when storage facilities are not needed, some are processed, but still a significant part goes to storage facilities. According to our estimates, their deficit is estimated at 1 million tons of vegetables, “he concluded.
On July 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged the aggravation of the situation with food prices in the country. The head of state noted that the issue of rising prices for basic products is especially acute today. “The issue with the rise in price of basic products is especially acute today: vegetables, the so-called borsch set, we just talked about this recently,” Putin said at the meeting. At the same time, the Ministry of Agriculture discussed measures to reduce the cost of vegetables and developed a number of measures to contain prices.
