Pulmonologist Palman: cough without phlegm and fever speak of pneumonia and COVID-19
Cough without phlegm, heavy breathing and high fever speak about the presence of pneumonia and COVID-19. The Russian pulmonologist, candidate of medical sciences Alexander Palman told about the way to identify the disease, his words are quoted by “Moscow 24”.
The doctor said that with coronavirus the cough is usually unproductive, the patient will also experience a lack of air. Palman also noted that there is a difference between ordinary and “coronavirus pneumonia”.
“Classic pneumonia is still a bacterium, not a virus. With it, certain structures of the lungs are involved, primarily at the level of the alveoli. Slightly different structures are affected in covid pneumonia. For example, microcirculation is impaired, “explained Palman.
The medic added that in both cases, the percentage of lung damage can be high, so it is necessary to see a doctor as soon as possible.
Earlier Rospotrebnadzor said that in order to prevent community-acquired pneumonia, which accounts for 70 percent of all pneumonia, you need to lead a healthy lifestyle and follow a number of recommendations. You need to go in for sports, eat food with a sufficient protein content and get a flu shot in the fall. They added that secondhand smoke increases the risk of developing community-acquired pneumonia.
