Russia has stepped up surveillance of US ships in the Black Sea

Patrol ship “Pavel Derzhavin” joined the surveillance of US actions in the Black Sea

The ship “Pavel Derzhavin” joined the American ships in the Black Sea, Interfax reports.

The patrol ship joined the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, the missile cruiser “Moskva” and the frigate “Admiral Essen” equipped with cruise missiles, which are already tracking US ships “Caliber”.

“The Black Sea Fleet can track NATO ships in several ways. At sea – direct tracking by ships, from the shore – with the help of electronic reconnaissance, radar stations of coastal missile systems, and from the air – by aviation “- the former chief of the main staff of the Russian Navy, retired admiral Viktor Kravchenko told Interfax earlier.

According to Vladimir Komoedov, a retired admiral and former commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, ships of NATO countries began to enter the Black Sea much more often, this was not the case even in Soviet times.

On October 30, a missile destroyer of the Navy entered the Black Sea USS Porter, equipped with long-range cruise missiles, and on November 4, Mount Whitney, the flagship of the US 6th Operational Fleet. According to the Montreux Convention, the time spent by ships of non-Black Sea countries in the Black Sea is limited to 21 days.

In recent years, Russia has strengthened the grouping of military forces in the Black Sea. The fleet received six new diesel-electric submarines, several frigates and small missile ships equipped with Kalibr long-range cruise missiles. As reported by the Russian military, they are planning to build a new radar station near Sevastopol for the missile attack warning system.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed concern about US actions in the Black Sea. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby responded that the United States will continue to fly, sail and operate in international air and sea space as it sees fit.
