Earlier, the chief designer of Checkmate Mikhail Strelets called the condition for maximum efficiency of Checkmate. He noted that the combat potential of the aircraft will increase the possibility of joint use of LTS and drones.
In September, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov told RIA Novosti that Checkmate would be created without attracting foreign investment. According to him, the project is supported by the programs of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as extra-budgetary funds of Rostec and the United Aircraft Corporation. He also did not rule out foreign participation in the creation of the LTS.
The Checkmate light tactical fighter (LTS) was presented at the MAKS-2021 air show in July. The maximum speed of the fighter can reach Mach 1.8-2. The combat load of Checkmate will be 7.4 tons. In July, Sergei Chemezov noted that the cost of the aircraft will be from $ 25 to $ 30 million.
