Rosmorrechflot: rescuers prepared to pump out fuel from the container ship Rise Shine
Rescuers have started preparing to pump out fuel from the grounded “Nakhodka” containers Rise Shine “(Rise Shine). This is reported by TASS with reference to Ivan Agarevsky, director of the Primorsky branch of FBU “Marine Rescue Service of Rosmorrechflot”.
According to him, now rescuers are installing pumps on the damaged ship. Work is scheduled to begin on Saturday, November 13, however, as Agarevsky noted, everything will depend on weather conditions.
Rescuers will also start installing a second row of booms to prevent fuel from leaking into the waters of the Sea of Japan. At the same time, Agarevsky clarified that no new oil or oil spots were found near the container ship.
On the morning of Tuesday, November 9, it became known that Rise Shine deviated from the course, ran aground and got a leak in the Nakhodka area in the south of Primorye. The vessel was sailing under the flag of Panama, its length is 101 meters, width – 19 meters. However, as a result of the incident, the ship broke in half. There were 14 Chinese citizens on board. The crew of the vessel was evacuated by the Ministry of Emergency Situations on a Mi-8 helicopter.
