Poroshenko again called on the Ukrainian authorities to immediately deploy troops on the border with Belarus , initiate the creation of a special EU mission there, use mechanisms of operational cooperation with FRONTEX – the European agency for border and coastal protection.
In addition, according to the ex-president, Kiev should take an active part in an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council to draw the attention of the world community to the role of the Kremlin in what is happening. It is also necessary to “strengthen the EU sanctions against the perpetrators of the crisis,” Poroshenko added.
Earlier, a freelance adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich said that migrants are the new weapon of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is forcing Belarus to recognize Crimea as part of the Russian Federation and puts pressure on the European Union and NATO.
“It seems to me that this whole story may be a certain distraction before directing the main efforts against Ukraine,” Arestovich added.
