NATO expresses solidarity with Poland, Lithuania and Latvia in connection with the migration crisis

NATO expresses solidarity with Poland and the Baltic States – and Latvia – in connection with the migration crisis on the border with Belarus. This is stated in a statement on the official website of the alliance.

The text says that the crisis is an artificially created situation, part of a hybrid attack against the western neighbors of Belarus for political purposes.

“These are inhuman actions endanger the lives of vulnerable people. NATO and its allies express solidarity with Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, ”the statement says. It also says that Western countries are closely monitoring the situation and its possible escalation.

NATO also calls on the regime of President Alexander Lukashenko “to stop these actions, respect human rights and freedoms and follow international law.”

The flow of migrants from Belarus to the EU has grown sharply this year, after Lukashenka, against the backdrop of yet another aggravation of relations with the West, threatened to weaken control over the border. The European Union and the United States are convinced that this situation was artificially orchestrated by the Belarusian authorities.
