There are more than two thousand Russian military in Donbas. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Valeriy Zaluzhny told about this on his Facebook page.

He stated that about 2.1 thousand regular servicemen of the Armed Forces (AF) of Russia are on a permanent basis on the territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and the Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) and “are fighting against Ukraine.” At the same time, Zaluzhny stressed that “Russian generals” occupy key command posts there.

In addition, the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine accused the “Russian occupation forces” of violating the ceasefire. According to him, since the beginning of the year, 2,287 attacks on Ukrainian positions have been recorded, of which 610 were carried out from weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements. He also noted that advanced enemy units are actively using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and snipers.

Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian military captured the village of Staromaryevka in the “gray zone” of Donbass. DNR Foreign Minister Natalya Nikonorova said that the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine posted their flags there, and added that Kiev ignored Donetsk's attempts to stop the escalation by diplomatic means.
