In Russia, they thought about increasing compensation for tourists

Rostourism solves the problem of compensating travelers in the event of a tour operator's bankruptcy Compensation can be as little as five percent of the cost of the trip, Izvestia reports with reference to the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST).

Russia is thinking about increasing compensation for tourists. Rosturizm is working on solving the problem of compensation for travelers. The agency raffled off a state contract for almost seven million rubles for the provision of services for the development of mechanisms for financial support of the liability of tourist operators.

“Insurance coverage is simply not enough for medium-sized tour operators, and even more so for large ones. Almost no insurance company wants to insure tour operators during a pandemic, “said Georgy Mokhov, head of the legal commission of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT).

Earlier, Russians were told about the peculiarities of receiving insurance payments in case of COVID-19 infection before vacation or during it. So, many tourists are faced with problems of obtaining compensation for a trip due to positive tests for coronavirus. For example, some companies refuse to refund money if, in addition to the test results, they do not provide an official doctor's opinion.
