An exhibition dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Dostoevsky has opened in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk
In honor of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky opened an exhibition of rare editions of his books in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The exposition in the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library is available for visiting from November 11, Sakhalin.info reports.
It is noted that among the exhibits at the exhibition there are lifetime collections of the writer's works and publications in the Russian Bulletin magazine. “The most amazing book is a facsimile edition of a personal copy of Fyodor Mikhailovich's Gospel – a masterpiece of world book culture from the manuscript collection of the Russian State Library,” said Marina Kobzeva, a library specialist.
She added that the edition consists of two volumes: the first one publishes a facsimile and a page-by-page description of the notes made by the author. These are page folds, and bookmarks, and underlines: with a pencil, ink or even a fingernail. The second volume contains articles by leading researchers of Dostoevsky's work.
Events dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the writer (October 30, 1821) are held throughout Russia. So, on November 10, an exhibition of the People's Artist of the USSR Ilya Glazunov, dedicated to the work of the writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, opened in Tver. The writer is closely associated with Tver, since after returning from exile to Siberia in 1859, the writer lived and worked in this city for several months.
