A forest created on the territory of Svobodny in Soviet times will be saved in the Amur Region

In the Amur Region, on the initiative of the Amur Gas Chemical Complex, a unique forest created on the territory of Svobodny in Soviet times will be saved. This is reported by Amur Life.

From July to October, the employees of the Amur branch of the Botanical Garden-Institute of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences carried out a complete inventory of plants, mushrooms and wildlife objects, drew up an up-to-date topographic plan of the area and collected detailed historical material. This information will be taken into account when designing routes and planning excursion programs along the ecological path.

Anna Vorobyova, head of the introduction laboratory of the Amur branch of the Botanical Garden-Institute of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, noted that for several decades in the arboretum, experts have created a unique collection of representatives of flora of the Far East, Japan, China, Siberia, Europe, North America. “After the liquidation of the forest experimental station, without proper care, this territory began to transform, part of the collection died, and the surviving plants formed a unique natural forest, in which plants unusual for our region adapted,” she said.

Based on the results studies revealed that the total number of emergency plants in the surveyed area was 15.5 percent. Currently, the design of the ecological trail routes and work on the information content of the excursion programs have already begun.
