“The Russian Armed Forces continue to continuously monitor and track the situation in the Black Sea region. Over the past day, the reconnaissance aircraft of the NATO countries have significantly increased the intensity of flights near the borders of Russia, “the general said in a video message.
Konashenkov also recalled that recently the radio equipment of the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Russian Military Space Forces accompanied a reconnaissance aircraft for ground targets and US Air Force E-8C strike control. Also, Russian radar equipment recorded and accompanied three American reconnaissance aircraft.
“Another U-2 strategic reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force, which took off from the territory of Great Britain, was detected and accompanied by radar reconnaissance aircraft over the territory of Ukraine”, – the Major General reported, adding that the plane approached the Russian border by 60 kilometers.
On November 9, Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said that the US military presence in the entire Black Sea region should be increased. He also assured Washington that Bucharest is ready to help develop a US strategy in the Black Sea region.
