Doctor Bhanot: Long breaks between meals provoke fatigue and lethargy of the main reasons for constant fatigue. This is reported by the Daily Mirror.
According to the expert, long breaks between meals can lead to a lack of energy and low blood sugar levels, which ultimately leads to lethargy and feeling tired. To solve this problem, the doctor recommended stocking up on healthy snack foods. Nuts, dried fruits, and whole grain crackers work well.
Too much food forces the body to spend a lot of energy digesting it, says Bhanot, and foods high in sugar and carbohydrates cause a surge in energy, which turns into an equally sharp decline. To avoid this, she advised combining carbohydrate-rich foods with vegetables and herbs.
Lack of iron, magnesium, potassium and vitamins D and B12 can be another cause of fatigue. To determine the shortage, Bhanot advises to take a blood test and contact a therapist to decipher it and receive recommendations. She added that lack of sleep directly affects energy levels, so adults need to get at least seven hours of sleep a night. At the same time, it is important to ensure that the bedroom has a comfortable air temperature.
A feeling of cheerfulness appears after physical exertion and sports. Exercise should be at least 150 minutes a week, Bhanot said. Moving more often is especially important for those who lead a sedentary lifestyle.
People experiencing chronic stress can face constant fatigue, the specialist said. She encourages people to learn how to relax and not overload themselves, both emotionally and physically.
Among the reasons that affect the quality of sleep and feelings of alertness, Bhanot identified depression, drugs that cause drowsiness, and sleep apnea. If symptoms of depression or apnea are found, she strongly recommends not to self-medicate, but to consult a specialist.
Earlier it was reported that American physician Rebecca Robbins, who studies sleep, spoke about the dangers of lack of sleep. To improve the quality of sleep, the expert advises to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day.
