The decline in the incidence of COVID-19 in Russia is possible if herd immunity is not less than 80 percent. Such a condition was named by the deputy head for scientific work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Gorelov, on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel, Izvestia reports.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that in the event of a delay in achieving herd immunity in Russia, many of the efforts made in the fight against the spread of coronavirus in the country will go down the drain. At the same time, he stressed that information about the importance of achieving herd immunity must be conveyed to residents of the entire country.
