Migrants reminded Polish President Duda of Iran's assistance to Polish refugees in 1942
One of the migrants on the Belarusian-Polish border appealed to the President of Poland Andrzej Dude with a request to let the refugees in – just as Iran did for the Poles in 1942. To prove his words, he showed a historical photograph. The plot was shown by the Belarus 1 TV channel.
A man from a migrant camp spoke in Russian about how Polish refugees came to the borders of Iran during World War II. In a similar situation, Tehran did not close the borders, but let the Poles in.
“Why are you doing this to us now? President of Poland, please take a look! You don `t see? There are children here, they will die. It is very, very cold, “the man said emotionally.
The migrant drew attention to the fact that there are many children and pregnant women in the camp. According to him, they will not be able to survive in the border zone for more than two days without outside help.
Earlier, the Belarusians organized the delivery of food, clean water and heating equipment for migrants. Doctors from the ambulance of the Grodno region are on duty at the camp.
After the German invasion of Poland and the Polish campaign of the Red Army, a large number of Poles were forced to leave their homes. The evacuation continued after the start of the Great Patriotic War. According to some estimates, up to 120,000 Polish citizens have arrived in Iran. The “Polish Army in the East” also operated in Iran.
