Jewelry and paintings by Larisa Markus, sister of the fugitive Russian banker Bedzhamov, put up for auction. Markus headed the collapsed Vneshprombank, and Bedzhamov was a co-owner of a credit institution. The auction, which will sell things, will be held on December 20, Forbes reports.
Part of the lots of the ex-head of the bank has already been presented on the website of the Russian Auction House. Basically, these are objects of art, the most expensive of them is the painting “Snowy Road”, painted in 1955 by the artist Leonid Yanush, with an initial price of 800 thousand rubles. Jewelry was also put up for auction, for example, a Graff watch made of gold with diamonds for 11.98 million rubles, a Rolex watch made of white gold for 6.39 million rubles, an F.P. Journe with a platinum case with diamonds for 4.91 million rubles, a cushion-cut diamond weighing 4.32 carats with an initial price of 348.6 thousand rubles and a Bvlgari white gold chain with a pendant inlaid with a diamond for 939 thousand rubles .
The Bank of Russia revoked Vneshprombank's license in 2016. The inspection found a hole in it worth 210 billion rubles. After that, the bank was declared bankrupt. According to investigators, Larisa Markus, together with her brother Georgy Bedzhamov, the owner of a credit institution, created an organized group in 2009.
In Russia, Bedzhamov, who lives in the UK, was arrested in absentia on a fraud case. He is accused of withdrawing 113 billion rubles from Vneshprombank by issuing deliberately bad loans to fictitious companies affiliated with the owners and management of the bank. His property is estimated at $ 100 million. In addition, they suspected he had assets in Mordovia worth 2.3 billion rubles.
Marcus was sentenced to nine years in a general regime colony for embezzling more than 114 billion rubles. Her deputy, Ekaterina Glushakova, received 2.5 years in prison.
