Japanese Foreign Ministry headed by former Defense Minister

Yoshimasa Hayashi, who previously held several ministerial posts

The Japanese Foreign Ministry was headed by Yoshimasa Hayashi, who previously held several others ministerial posts. Reuters writes about this with reference to the Japanese press.

60-year-old Hayashi was the head of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Defense, in 2008 he became Minister of Defense. Previous Prime Minister Shinzo Abe twice appointed him Minister of Agriculture, and in 2017-2018 Hayashi was Minister of Education and Science.

Earlier on November 10, it became known that the entire Japanese government had resigned: the lower house has ended its term of office, and the entire cabinet is to be re-elected. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has already been re-elected to the post. It was announced that Hayashi would be the head of the Foreign Ministry on the eve of the reshuffle – back on November 6th.
