The level of herd immunity in Russia is 48.4 percent. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova at a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with members of the government, TASS reports.
She also assessed the level of collective immunity to COVID-19 in certain regions: this indicator practically does not change in Dagestan. Kabardino-Balkaria, Tatarstan, Kamchatka and Stavropol Territories, Tomsk Region. The highest level of herd immunity was recorded in the Republic of Tyva, the Moscow region, Karelia, Moscow, Sevastopol and St. Petersburg.
Golikova also explained that in order to achieve herd immunity of 80 percent, it is necessary to vaccinate about 22 million people now and revaccinate about 9 million people.
The share of vaccinated Russians over 60 years old is 44.7 percent, the highest rates were noted in Chechnya, Tuva, Mordovia, Tyumen and Belgorod regions.
Earlier During the meeting, Golikova reported to Putin that the rise in mortality of patients with coronavirus in Russia is alarming. Currently, 82.8 percent of coronavirus beds are occupied in the country. During the non-working days that were introduced throughout the country from October 30 to November 7, the rate of increase in the incidence of COVID in Russia decreased by 2.1 percent.
