SuperJob: over 11 years, the gap in wage expectations of men and women decreased from 15% to 6%
Over the past 11 years, the gap in salary expectations of men and women in Russia fell from 15 to 6 percent. This is reported by RBC with reference to the SuperJob study.
In particular, in Moscow this figure is 6 percent, in St. Petersburg – 8 percent. Despite this, women still rarely dare to ask for more money than men, experts say. At the same time, they emphasize that at present it is no longer possible to talk about wage dumping.
The study is based on job offers in 30 popular market positions in both cities and data on salary expectations of Russians. It turned out that in Moscow there are areas in which women claim higher income than men. These positions include ecologist, architect, financial analyst, and economist. The difference in expectations is from 2 to 10 thousand rubles. There are no such spheres in St. Petersburg.
It is noted that the most significant gap in salary expectations of men and women is observed among business analysts and programmers – both in Moscow and St. Petersburg. So, for the position of an analyst in the capital, men want to receive 170 thousand rubles, and women – 130 thousand, and for the position of a programmer – 180 thousand and 150 thousand rubles, respectively. In St. Petersburg, requests among men are 145 thousand (for analysts) and 150 thousand (for programmers), while women expect a salary of 105 and 125 thousand rubles, respectively.
Earlier, the Russians indicated the desired income their second halves. According to the results of a survey conducted by the job selection service Rabota.ru, the average value was 105.5 thousand rubles per month.
