BMW will start driving on energy from dung

BMW will start using methane energy from a farm in California for electric cars capturing methane from manure. This is stated on the official website of the concern.

The American division of BMW has entered into an agreement with California Bioenergy (CalBio). Power will be generated at Bar 20 Dairy in Kerman, California, using a unique bioreactor.

“Our partnership with CalBIO is an innovative way to attract renewable energy investments that provide clean energy to cars and are reducing methane emissions from dairy farms, bringing agricultural communities a new source of income, ”said BMW Energy Services Manager Adam Langton. He looked forward to attracting new investment to develop biorefinery technology on other American farms.

“We are really doing something special for California. This ultra-clean, biogas-powered, autonomous power system scales from small to large dairy plants, ”said CalBio CEO Ross Buckenham. According to him, the system will improve local air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

In mid-October, Prince Charles of Wales revealed that his Aston Martin began to run on biofuel made from cheese and wine. The prince's case was called exquisite, but experts believe that the idea cannot be extended to the whole UK.
