Lawyer Zhorin: scammers use the name of Morgenstern to lure money out of Russians … The cybercriminals' trick was revealed by lawyer Sergei Zhorin in a conversation with Channel Five.
The lawyer said that fraudsters periodically use the name of Morgenstern to lure money out of Russians. According to him, recently an advertisement appeared on the social network TikTok, in which a man who looks like a rapper invites fans to take part in a competition, the prize fund of which is allegedly one million rubles.
As Zhorin noted, a person clicking on the link under the advertisement gets to a fraudulent site. There, the user is asked to choose one of three boxes, while it is stated that one of them contains a prize of one million rubles. The lawyer stressed that, having made a choice, each site visitor sees a message that he won a little over three thousand dollars. However, then an error notification appears on the screen. To fix the problem, the user is asked to pay 346 rubles. After the transfer, he still does not receive any prize.
The lawyer stressed that Morgenstern is constantly fighting with scammers and notifies fans to check the information more carefully and, in case of doubt, contact his representatives, whose numbers are indicated on the artist's official website and on his social media pages. “All the official events in which he [Morgenstern] participates are on his official Instagram page,” Zhorin specified.
According to the lawyer, the rapper also agreed with him to provide free legal aid to fans who have suffered from the scammers who use his name. Zhorin called this initiative of the musician noble. “The aid will be financed by Alisher himself. (…) Probably, it deserves to take an example from her to other artists, because, probably, there should be some kind of responsibility of the artist before the fans, “he concluded.
In August it was reported that websites began to appear on the Internet offering fake cryptocurrency on behalf of Morgenstern. Fraudsters sell Morgentokens and Morgencoins to users and then disappear with their money.
