FinExpertiza: the number of luxury cars in Russia in 2020 increased by 22.4 percent 
in Russia, expensive luxury cars grew by 22.4 percent, to 97.6 thousand units. Of these, 87 thousand are in the premium segment (5-10 million rubles), and another 10 thousand – for luxury cars (more than 10 million rubles). Such data are contained in the study of the international audit and consulting network FinExpertiza, which is at the disposal of Lenta.ru.
Experts checked the data of the Federal Tax Service (FTS) and found that tax collections from expensive cars are growing every year, although their average size is decreasing. Over the past five years, the number of luxury cars in Russia has quadrupled. Growth peaks – 51 and 48.3 percent – fell on 2017 and 2019.
At the end of last year, 63.1 thousand expensive cars belonged to individuals, and 34.4 thousand – to legal entities. The trend of recent years has been an increase in the share of citizens among those who bought elite cars – previously half of the country's elite car fleet belonged to organizations.
Most of all in 2020 luxury cars were in Moscow – 30.76 thousand. This is followed by St. Petersburg – 10.7 thousand, Moscow region – 8.47 thousand, Krasnodar Territory – 4.64 thousand, Tatarstan – 2.59 thousand, Sverdlovsk region – 2.33 thousand, Rostov region – 2.3 thousand, Novosibirsk region – 2 thousand.
In terms of the increase in the number of elite cars, Chukotka remained the first, but only due to the effect of a low base. In 2019, only one car more expensive than five million rubles was registered in the region, in 2020 there were already eight of them, which is still the worst result in the country.
In 2020, the accrued transport tax on expensive cars was 5, 83 billion rubles, of which 1.47 billion fell on the luxury class. Thus, on average, the owner of a premium car paid 50.1 thousand rubles, and a luxury car – 140 thousand.
Earlier it was reported that since the beginning of this year, sales of electric vehicles in Russia jumped by 118 percent. In ten months, 845 electric cars were sold.
