McGregor takes up challenge from former UFC belt contender

Michael Chandler wanted to fight Conor McGregor in the UFC in 2022

American MMA fighter Michael Chandler challenged the Irishman Conor McGregor. The post is available on the athlete's Twitter account

The 35-year-old American posted a processed photo of the battle of views, where he stands opposite McGregor. Chandler left a caption for the image – “2022”. Fans believe that the American wants to become the first rival for McGregor after the Irishman's injury. McGregor himself accepted the challenge – he left a comment under Chandler's post.

On November 7, the American fought with Justin Gage at the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament. Chandler conceded by decision. This fight was the third for the American in the promotion. After defeating Dan Hooker, he became a contender for the lightweight belt and lost to Charles Oliveira in a fight for the vacant title.

McGregor continues to recover from an injury sustained in a duel with Dustin Poirier in July. The Irishman stumbled and broke his leg.

McGregor is a former UFC champion in two weight classes.
