Former Russian general denied commutation for bribe

The former head of the Ryazan drug control Igor Turovsky was denied a mitigation of the sentence

for a bribe. This was reported on Monday, November 8, by MK in Ryazan, citing its sources.

According to the newspaper, Turovsky filed a petition to change the sentence – 8.5 years of strict regime and a fine of 420 million rubles – to a lighter punishment. At first, he was denied this by the Skopinsky District Court. On Monday, November 8, the Ryazan Regional Court also upheld this decision, leaving his appeal unsatisfied.

The convict had already been refused a mitigation of the sentence a year ago. In July 2021, Turovsky was also denied parole.

Igor Turovsky received his sentence at the end of 2015 – then he was given 8.5 years of strict regime for accepting a bribe in the amount of 6 million rubles. He was stripped of his title and ordered to pay a fine of 420 million rubles.
