It is clarified that we are talking about a bottle of 30-year-old Suntory Hibiki whiskey, which Pompeo received from the Japanese government in 2019. Also, the inspectors did not find a commemorative gold coin and some other gifts worth tens of thousands of dollars, which disappeared during the administration of former US President Donald Trump. At the same time, the State Department discovered eight porcelain and copper vases, the total cost of which is 20 thousand dollars.

In addition, the report noted that representatives of the new administration found the gift vault “in a state of disarray” when they entered it in January. Also, during the investigation, it turned out that a large number of people had access to the warehouse with gifts. So, from August 3, 2020 to January 31, 77 people used the security card to enter the storage, who in total visited the premises more than three thousand times.

The investigation became known in August this year. The Office of the Inspector General suspects US politicians may have withdrawn taxpayer-funded gifts from the State Department's gift vault in January. Among the missing items are gift bags with memorable souvenirs purchased for the leaders of the G7 countries. The set included leather briefcases, pewter trays and marble boxes. The cost of each package with souvenirs was estimated at $ 680. The gifts were planned to be presented at the Camp David summit in 2020, but it was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
