The oldest bishop of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church dies

The oldest bishop of the Russian Old Believer Church, Siluyan, died at the age of 82 November Bishop of Novosibirsk and All Siberia Siluyan (Kilin). He died at the age of 82.

“On the evening of November 5, the oldest bishop of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church, His Grace Bishop Siluyan (Kilin) ​​of Novosibirsk and All Siberia, passed away to the Lord,” the message says.

Bishop Siluyan (in the world – Simon A. Kilin) ​​was born on May 17, 1939 in the village of Podoinikovo, Pankrushikhinsky District, Altai Territory. Thanks to his assistance, a large number of operating parishes in Siberia and the Far East were opened. In addition, he contributed to the completion of the construction of the cathedral in Novosibirsk in 1999.

In January, it became known that Metropolitan Filaret, Bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), had died in retirement and an honorary Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus. In 2009, he was a rival of the future Patriarch Kirill in the struggle for the patriarchal throne, but withdrew his candidacy and urged his supporters to vote for Kirill.
