The analyst called Sber's decision to sell foreign subsidiaries logical

Mikhail Ganelin said that Sberbank headed for the development of the ecosystem subsidiary banks in Europe.

“I think this decision to sell is logical. Sberbank has long abandoned international expansion: even during the time of the sanctions. Sber took a course towards developing an ecosystem and services for the domestic market. As for the banks that have existed: they require resources, but there is no real big business. Therefore, we can also talk about resource optimization here. They still have points abroad, and that's enough, “the expert emphasized.

Earlier it became known that Sberbank Europe agreed with a number of investors on the sale of subsidiary banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary , Serbia and Slovenia. The total amount of the deal will be about 500 million euros, including the sale of shares and the replacement of financing provided by Sber. The transaction is expected to be approved in 2022.
