Russian scientists predicted the disappearance of fluorography

Radiologist Vasily Parshin: more accurate computed tomography will replace fluorography fluorography as a diagnostic method. Soon it will be replaced by more accurate computed tomography, he said on the air of the radio station “Moscow speaking.”

Parshin recalled that initially fluorography was invented to detect tuberculosis. This method helped physicians identify disease-specific changes while saving consumables. Later, fluorography began to be used as a screening method and answered the question: are there changes similar to tuberculosis or not.

Currently, modern fluorographs already exist. According to the doctor, the devices have expanded the range of detected pathology, but there are more informative research methods. “As soon as fluorography reveals any pathology: inflammation, fibrosis, tumor, foreign body, then the person will go for computed tomography,” Parshin explained. The radiologist added that in the future, as CT scanners spread in Russia, fluorography will be used less and less, and thus may disappear.

Earlier, oncologists from Ningbo University and Shanxi Agricultural University in China said that the Toxoplasma gondii parasite helps in the fight against malignant diseases. It lives in host cells and is capable of producing large amounts of proteins to counteract its immune defenses. Doctors hope that in this way it will be possible to treat prostate carcinoma and many tumors in children.
