Earlier, the former chief of the main headquarters of the Russian Navy (1998-2005), Admiral Viktor Kravchenko said that the USS Connecticut submarine could collide with a seamount, since it probably did not use the sonar mode to hide its presence in the South China Sea. According to the military, the submarine was in the noise direction finding mode, as it may have wanted to hide. “Noise finding, of course, does not allow you to detect something,” he said.
