French presidential aide sentenced to prison

Macron's security chief Alexander Benall was accused of violent actions , two of them are conditional. He was found guilty in the case of the use of force at a demonstration in 2018. This was reported by the BFMTV channel.

In July 2018, the French media published a video in which Benall beat a protester during a demonstration on May 1 in Paris. In the video, a man in a black protective helmet and civilian clothes at first behaves rudely and pushes the girl. Then he grabs a young man surrounded by police, drags him along the ground and beats him in front of eyewitnesses. The French leader fired the security adviser after new details of the case emerged, for which he faced criticism for not taking such measures earlier.

Benall was accused of violent actions, interference with the implementation of state service, illegal wearing of insignia, concealment of images from video cameras and violation of professional secrecy.

Alexander Benall was the chief of security for Emmanuel Macron during his election campaign, and then became responsible for the security of the head of state at various events. When the scandalous video was published, it became known that the man was decided to be removed from office for only two weeks. However, the next day it was decided to fire him.
