Senators have introduced a bill banning Smoking at entrances and in elevators

In the state Duma introduced draft amendments to the anti-Smoking law, involving the introduction of a ban on Smoking in elevators, common areas and 10-foot zone from the entrance of the apartment building. The document is available in the electronic database of the lower house of Parliament.

“The problem is exacerbated when the ground floor is an office or a store,” say the authors of the bill in the explanatory Memorandum.

According to the senators, smokers “just don’t think about the inconvenience caused to other citizens.” Meanwhile, “children, senior citizens and especially citizens with asthma and other respiratory diseases, is constantly forced to inhale tobacco smoke, passing the private house.”

Earlier, on 2 June, it was reported that the Ministry of health in the new version of the anti-Smoking campaign Agency called for a ban of state support of films containing scenes of Smoking. In the same strategic document in the future include prohibitions on Smoking wapow and electronic cigarettes in public places.

In April, an international group of scientists presented the ranking of deaths from Smoking, in which Russia took the fourth position. The total number of smokers the country ranks fifth following China, India, Indonesia and the United States. Overall, more than 1 in 10 deaths worldwide is associated with this negative habit.
