Russia will overcome dependence on Ukrainian gas turbine engines by mid-2018

MOSCOW, June 26. /TASS/. Russia from the middle of next year get rid of dependence on Ukraine in the production of gas turbines for surface ships. This was announced by the President of the United shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexey Rakhmanov.

“From mid next year according to in the production of propulsion systems at will,” – said Rakhmanov.

According to him, at the last meeting were given instructions for the creation of marine diesel engines, thereby OSK will be able to produce a whole range of power plants for ships – as gas turbine and diesel.

Earlier, the Minister of industry and trade of Russia Denis Manturov said that Russia will be able to replace components, which previously were supplied from Ukraine to 2018-2019.

In 2014, it was frozen cooperation of Ukraine and Russia in the military sphere. Given the fact that Ukraine since Soviet times, was partly located the production of parts for military equipment, the rupture of ties has called into question the implementation of certain programmes of the Russian defense industry. In particular, due to non-delivery of the Ukrainian gas turbines was halted construction of several ships for the Navy.
