MOSCOW, June 21. /TASS/. Terrorists from grouping “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in the Russian Federation) blew up the mosque “Al-Nuri” in the Iraqi city of Mosul, where the leader of the IG Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi announced the creation of a “Caliphate”.

This was announced on Wednesday the commander of the operation to expel militants from Mosul General Abdel Amir Yaralla, TV channel Al-Sumaria.

According to him, the terrorists blew up the mosque “al-Nouri” and the famous “Humpbacked” minaret, “committing a historical crime.”

The previously reported June 21 that the government, sosredotochimsya offensive on the Old city of Mosul, managed to approach to a distance of 200 meters from the mosque. The command also noted that the number of militants remaining in the city, does not exceed 500 people.

The campaign of Iraqi government forces to regain control of Mosul began in October last year. June 18, the Iraqi military has begun the final stage of operations in the Western part of the city.
