UAE Ambassador to the US offered Washington an instrument of pressure on Qatar
MOSCOW, 14 Jul — RIA Novosti. UAE Ambassador to US Yousef al Otaiba (Yousef Al Otaiba) suggested that the United States used an airbase of al-Adid in Qatar as a political tool to exert pressure on the country, the newspaper said Hill.
On the basis of al-Adid in Qatar hosted more than 11 thousand soldiers of the USA and countries of the antiterrorist coalition.
“Airbase is a very good insurance policy against any additional pressure. Maybe someone in Congress should speak at the hearing and just say, you know, “maybe we should consider (possibility — ed.) for her transfer?”, the newspaper cites the words of the Ambassador.
“If I want to be honest, I think the reason against Qatar were not taken, (is — ed.) is the airbase,” said Otaiba.
Earlier on Friday, Pentagon spokesman, said that the blockade of Qatar from the Gulf countries has not led to the cessation of operations from the airbase of al-Adid, but hinders long-term planning of military operations against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (banned in Russia) that the US carried out air bases in the country.
