The Minister of foreign Affairs of Switzerland has resigned

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter stated that he submitted a letter of resignation from his post. He said this during a press conference broadcast which led 24Heures.

According to the diplomat, his decision is connected with desire “to write a new page in my life.” The official did not specify what to do in the future and expects to hold any position in the international structures.

The head of the Swiss foreign Minister will leave his office on 31 October this year.

In the period from 1 January 2014 and 1 January 2015 Burkhalter was President of the Swiss Confederation, combining this post with the leadership of the foreign Ministry.

In 2014, as current head of the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe (OSCE) took an active part in resolving the crisis in Ukraine. That he belonged to the idea to equip the staff of the OSCE mission in Eastern Ukraine unmanned aerial vehicles to monitor the situation on the contact line between the warring parties.
