In Russia for the first time initiated the training of women military observers to the UN, said Tuesday the head of the operations Directorate – Deputy chief of the General staff of Land forces the General-major Igor Smoliy.
“UN military observers and officers-peacekeepers are prepared in the Academy of General courses in Naro-Fominsk. For the first time this year as the military observers, the UN initiated the training of women observers,” – said resin at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security, dedicated to the Russian participation in activities for the maintenance or restoration of peace and security.
Smoliy said that now as military observers and officers of the UN Secretariat are serving 63 Russian soldiers. “The geography of service of observers covers the troubled regions of the Middle East and Africa, with the duties they cope,” – said the representative of the Russian military.
“Given the significant contribution of the Russian military peacekeepers in maintaining peace and security in UN missions, and the post-Soviet space jointly with interested bodies of Executive power prepared a draft presidential decree on the establishment in the Russian Armed forces Day of the Russian military peacekeepers,” – said resin.
