Klintsevich recalled Poroshenko Lermontov’s poems about Europe

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, it should be remembered that the poet Mikhail Lermontov compared to Europe, where so eager the current Ukrainian authorities, with a dying Gladiator, said the first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Frants Klintsevich. “At the same Lermontov you can find other string”, – said Klintsevich RIA “Novosti”, Recalling the poem, where the poet compares Europe with a dying Gladiator:

“Aren’t you about European the world

once ardent dreamers idol,

to the grave Laden ignominious head,

exhausted in the struggle of doubt and passion,

without faith, without hope is the playfield of children

mocked by a jubilant crowd.”

According to the Klintsevich, farewell Poroshenko with Russia with the lines from Lermontov and Pushkin was “strange”.

“Mr. Poroshenko, do not need to remember the great names in vain,” – said Klintsevich.

Earlier on Sunday, Poroshenko announced the official launch of a visa-free regime with the EU. In his speech Poroshenko laughingly quoted Mikhail Lermontov’s poems “farewell, unwashed Russia”.

First Deputy Chairman of the Commission on culture of Public chamber of Russia Mikhail Lermontov – the head of the family of the great Russian poet – Ukrainian President advised to look in the mirror before you quote the lines from the poem “farewell, unwashed Russia”.
