Party Rules in the lead on elections in France, after counting 75% of the votes
PARIS, 11 Feb — RIA Novosti. The centrist movement “Forward, Republic of” President of France Emmanuel Makron is leading in the elections to the National Assembly (lower house of Parliament), according to the Ministry of internal Affairs.
After counting, 75.7% of the ballots (17.1 million), in the whole country for candidates from the “Forward Republic” voted 26.9% of voters.
This is followed by the center-right party “the Republicans” — 15,8%, the right “national front” marine Le Pen 14.4% and left the “Rebellious France,” Jean-Luc Mélenchon — 10.6% and the centre-left socialist party — 7.5%.
These results give an idea of the bigger picture, however, elections to the national Assembly are held by the majority system, candidates are elected in single-member districts.
To win in the first round in each of the candidates need to score more than 50% of the vote. Where this does not happen, a week later, the second round of voting, which will be a simple majority.
